The practice restrictions will be off for 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy as the team begins its preparations for Week 2 of the preseason.
Head coach Kyle Shanahan on Monday in a conference call indicated Purdy’s scheduled days off would be lifted, meaning he’ll be participating in three practices in a row for the first time all preseason.
As part of his rehab from offseason elbow surgery Purdy has been taking an extra day off after two days of practice through the first few weeks of camp. Now he’ll be with the team for their regular practice schedule.
That’s a pretty monumental leap for Purdy considering there were questions over the offseason about whether he’d be back for any of training camp. Now he’ll get close to a month’s worth of full practices before suiting up for the regular season opener in Pittsburgh.
As for Saturday’s game against the Broncos, it’s unclear if or how much Purdy will play. He did not suit up in the 49ers preseason opening loss to the Raiders.
