Brock Bowers slides, 2 Bulldogs go in first round of mock draft

Georgia Bulldogs tight end Brock Bowers is projected to slide out of the top 10 of the 2024 NFL draft according to the NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah.

Georgia fans would not be happy to see the Atlanta Falcons pass on Bowers at the No. 8 pick, but the Falcons already have a serviceable tight end, Kyle Pitts.

Jeremiah projects Bowers will end up as the 15th pick and be selected by the Indianapolis Colts. He notes it is tough to evaluate where Bowers will go because of the position he plays.

Bowers is going to be tricky to place in mock drafts. The talent suggests he should be a top-five pick, but the debate about positional value could push him down as far as the Colts at No. 15.

It would be surprising to see such a complete tight end prospect drop out of the top 10. The 2024 NFL draft is stacked with wide receivers, but none of them are better after the catch than Georgia’s Brock Bowers. Additionally, it is debatable to say tight ends aren’t as important as other positions such as  receiver or cornerback. NFL superstar tight ends Travis Kelce and Rob Gronkowski have combined to win six of the last eight Super Bowls.

Jeremiah also projects Georgia right tackle Amarius Mims will go 20th to the Pittsburgh Steelers, where he would be reunited with former Bulldogs Broderick Jones, George Pickens and Darnell Washington.

Jeremiah does not project Georgia cornerback Kamari Lassiter or wide receiver Ladd McConkey to be first-round picks. Both Lassiter and McConkey are being mocked in the first round in some other mock drafts out there.
