Stars of stage and screen are gearing up for a campaign rally in support of Kamala Harris in New York City next week. The event, titled 'Broadway Rallies for Kamala,' will feature performances by renowned artists such as Anne Hathaway, Kelli O’Hara, Kristin Chenoweth, and Audra McDonald. The rally is scheduled to take place on Monday at 7:30 p.m. EDT and will be livestreamed nationally for free via BroadwayWorld.
In addition to the star-studded lineup, the event will also include appearances and performances by Whoopi Goldberg, Ana Gasteyer, Billy Porter, Wilson Cruz, and several other notable personalities. Chasten Buttigieg, the spouse of Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, will also be in attendance.
Alongside the evening rally, a daytime virtual phone bank named 'Kamala Dial-A-Thon' will be held, with volunteers aiming to make 1 million phone calls in support of the Democratic candidates. The phone bank will feature participation from Broadway and Hollywood talent, adding a unique touch to the voter outreach efforts.
This initiative is spearheaded by Broadway for Harris, a volunteer coalition comprising industry professionals and theater enthusiasts. The group is dedicated to supporting the election of Kamala Harris, vice presidential candidate Tim Walz, and other Democratic candidates on the ballot this November.
