Broadcom, Other Chipmakers Seen Winning Content In Next Apple iPhones

As Apple prepares to manufacture its next smartphone, the iPhone 15, the supply chain is abuzz about which component suppliers will gain content in the new handsets. Semiconductor stocks seen benefiting include Broadcom, Power Integrations, Qualcomm and STMicroelectronics.

That's according to a report Monday by Loop Capital analyst John Donovan. He highlighted the chipmakers likely to get business from Apple's new smartphones, based on supply chain checks.

Broadcom will benefit from its integration of Wi-Fi and Bluetooth wireless chips, Donovan said. The company is "now emerging as another big winner in iPhone 15 and beyond," he said.

Meanwhile, Power Integrations confirmed that it is the exclusive supplier of the main chip for the 20-watt USB-C charger for Apple, Donovan said.

Meanwhile, Qualcomm looks secure as the supplier of wireless modems for iPhones through 2024 "at the very least," he said. Apple's internal development of a modem is still well behind Qualcomm from a performance perspective, he said.

Two Semiconductors Stocks Are Tech Leaders

Elsewhere among semiconductor stocks, STMicro has secured a host of components in the iPhone 15 and iPhone 16, Donovan said. Those components include accelerometers, gyroscopes, barometer, laser autofocus in camera modules, and controllers, he said.

Apple is likely to introduce the iPhone 15 in September, followed by the iPhone 16 a year later.

Semiconductor stocks exposed to Apple often get a lift from iPhone news.

Broadcom and STMicro are among the semiconductor stocks on the IBD Tech Leaders list.
