A celebration of 75 years of the BRM Grand Prix team will be the central feature at this year's Oulton Park Gold Cup at the end of July.
To mark the 75th anniversary of the first BRM racing in 1950, a gaggle of cars will take part in a demonstration run on the Saturday (26 July), headed by the recreation of the V16-engined BRM P15 from Hall & Hall.
The organisers of the BRM celebration say that their ambition is to have 25 cars running on the circuit, and that number could include some Can-Am sportscars as well as grand prix cars from the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s.
It is hoped that the 1962 Graham Hill world championship-winning BRM P57 will be on hand, and as many former BRM drivers, team members and engineers as possible are being invited to attend.
The P15 made its debut at Goodwood in 1950 but the project was beset by a string of embarrassing public failures. However, by the early 1960s, BRM was leading the way in Formula 1. In April 1971 Pedro Rodriguez won the non-championship Spring Trophy at Oulton Park in a BRM P160.
But its fortunes subsequently waned and BRM’s era as a grand prix team finally ended in 1977.

As well as the cars taking part in the demonstration and those on static display, several BRMs are also due to compete in the Historic Grand Prix Cars Association Pre ’66 races at the Cheshire track.
Jonathan Palmer, chief executive of Oulton operator MotorSport Vision, said: “I'm delighted that the Gold Cup has been chosen to celebrate BRM’s 75th anniversary.
“There's no way I'm going to miss the unique chance to hear the magnificent V16 howling its way around Oulton Park.”
Paul Owen, BRM director, added: “Having spent the last five years reawakening the BRM marque, it is exciting to be planning some very special celebrations to honour the 75th anniversary.”
