Brixton bus crash: Seven injured after fire engine collides with double-decker bus in south London

Seven people have been injured after a packed bus collided with a fire engine and a car during rush hour in south London.

The vehicles crashed at the junction of Acre Lane and Brixton Road near Lambeth Town Hall around 6:15pm.

One male firefighter and the male bus driver were rushed to hospital following the crash along with a 48-year-old female bus passenger who complained of back pain.

Four others were treated for minor injuries at the scene.

The London Fire Brigade has said none of the injuries were thought to be serious.

A spokeswoman for the service said no-one had been trapped in the crash and all three vehicles have been deemed safe to be moved.

The junction and several roads around the crash remain closed.

A spokesman for the London Metropolitan Police said it did not appear to be a major incident.

It comes as transport across the capital has been thrown into chaos by heavy rains overnight.

Eight London Underground lines are operating with severe delay due to flooding and many have complained about being unable to get home because of train cancellations.

The Electoral Commission has said it will not keep the polling stations open longer due to people being unable to get home to vote in the EU referendum taking place across the UK today.
