Rare 50p coins are being sold online at around 300 times their original value.
The coins from the Kew Gardens release of 2009 are fetching in the region of £150 on the internet auction website eBay.
Around 210,000 of the coins, which were created to commemorate 250 years since Kew Gardens opened in 1759, are believed to be in circulation across Britain.
They display on the tails side of the coin the famous Chinese Pagoda at the Royal Botanic Garden, while the Queen's face, as usual, is on the reverse.
One of the coins, listed with a starting price of just 99p, sold for £150 on eBay last week. The item was described on the site as a "Kew Gardens 50p genuine 2009 circulated Great Condition Fifty Pence RARE".
The average selling price for the coin is listed on change checking website Coin Hunter at between £150.89 and £161.50, but it has been purchased for up to £200 on occasion.
Britons checking their pockets and down the back of their sofas should be warned, though, that a newer batch of the coins reissued by the Royal Mint in 2019 to mark the 50-year anniversary of the 50p are worth substantially less.
The more recent version still has a significantly inflated value, however, with the coins regularly selling on eBay for between £70 and £80.
The 50p coin is considered to be the most collectable in Britain, according to the Royal Mint.
Other valuable 50ps include a series of Olympic sport-themed coins released in 2011 to celebrate the London 2012 Games and ones released in 2018 featuring the Beatrix Potter characters Peter Rabbit and Flopsy Bunny.
