Police officers have released a mugshot as they hunt for a man in relation to a string of drugs offences.
Robert Rimmer, who was previously jailed for stabbing a former Manchester United player, is wanted by Humberside Police over a string of drugs offences in the region.
The 36-year-old was imprisoned in 2013 after stabbing former Manchester United player Ronnie Wallwork in an "eruption of extreme violence", attacking him with a fish knife in the VIP section of a car in the city.
Jailed for five and a half years, he's since served his time but is currently wanted by the force who are investigating separate drugs-related offences on their patch.
Hundreds of members of the public flooded the comments on the force's Facebook appeal, making jokes about Rimmer's attractive appearance.
One said: "He can hide at my house that's for sure."
Another responded to Humberside's plea not to go near Rimmer if he's spotted due to his violent criminal record, saying: "I wouldn't mind approaching him".
A Humberside spokesperson urged anyone who spots Rimmer not to approach him and to instead urgently call police or Crimestoppers.
The force said: “Have you seen wanted man 36-year-old Robert Rimmer?
“Officers are keen to speak to him in connection with an ongoing investigation into drugs-related offences in our area.
“Robert is originally from the Ashton-Under-Lyne area of Manchester but has known links to Hull, Cheshire, Liverpool, and Blackpool.
"If you see him, or know where he is, please do not approach him but instead call us immediately on our non-emergency 101 line quoting investigation reference 20900368291.
“If you would prefer to report information anonymously you can do so via the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
