Brits make the most of late-closing pubs and celebrate Jubilee in royal fancy dress

Brits are making the most of later closing times for pubs during Jubilee weekend, with many getting boozy while donning Royal-themed costumes across four days.

Partygoers and those keen to celebrate the Royal milestone enjoyed a few extra pints as pubs stayed open until 1am last night, instead of the usual 11pm.

The extra hours have been in place across England and Wales from June 2 until today.

Revellers in cities such as Leeds and Newcastle were snapped wearing fancy dress with a Royal theme, including crowns and military attire, while clutching flags or cut-outs of Queen Elizabeth.

An estimated 90 million pints were being knocked back as the pub industry pub industry was enjoying a £2 billion boost.

Sunshine and warm temperatures saw throngs of people starting the party early yesterday and continuing well into the wee hours of this morning, waving Union Jack bunting and donning masks of the Queen’s face for some light hearted humour.

Celebrations of this magnitude haven’t been seen since the Royal wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in 2018.

Waste collection firm Divert.co.uk estimates there will be enough empty bottles left over from the long weekend to stretch around the globe, according to the Sun.

Festivities are set to continue today, with many Brits not having to return to work until Monday.
