After weeks of thunderstorms, downpours and chilly temperatures, it seems spring will finally begin as the UK could get a mini heatwave in a matter of days.
While we were treated to some sunny skies in April, it was overall pretty miserable with plenty of showers.
The Met Office has reported that a low-pressure system that was in place over the UK has moved away towards the east, allowing gusts of chilly Arctic air to spread from Scotland in a southern direction across parts of the UK today.
These wintry gusts will cause temperatures to plummet to below average of around 11C.
Met Office Chief Meteorologist Jason Kelly said: “This week will see temperatures below average for the time of year for many. Blustery winds will become confined to the far northeast overnight, with winds falling light elsewhere.
"This will allow widespread frost by night, though in sunshine by day, it should feel pleasant enough.
"Wintry showers will continue across the northeast, becoming confined to Orkney and Shetland by tomorrow afternoon."
However, this could soon be about to change as one forecaster is predicting the UK will see temperatures of up to 19C.
Things will heat up from April 28 when Accuweather is forecasting London could get to 17C, before warming to a balmy 19C by May 1.
This will continue until May 3 at 18C - a whopping six days without any rain.
It's not just the capital where things are looking up - in Manchester there will be sunny skies from April 27 to May 2, before it reaches 18C on May 4.
In Birmingham, the forecaster predicts temperatures will climb from 14C to 17C between April 28 and May 1.
The Met Office is predicting similar temperatures of around 17C and 18C over the course of the next few days just in time for the bank holiday weekend, although they are forecasting some cloud.
Sadly, the mini heatwave is not expected to last for long, with showers and cooler temperatures of around 13C expected to return from May 4.
As for today, we're expected to see highs of 12C after a chilly start to the morning.
The Met Office predicts sunny skies for most of the morning until it clouds over around lunchtime.
