Mo Gilligan has been slammed by viewers of The BRIT Awards 2023 over his question to Little Mix star Leigh-Anne Pinnock. The 34-year-old comedian chatted with award-winning singer Leigh-Anne at her table as he hosted the glitzy awards.
Mo talked to Leigh-Anne about her favourite moment from the awards over the years, and asked what fans can expect from her this year after Little Mix's hiatus, but fans were left fuming by one of his questions. The Masked Singer panellist turned to Leigh-Anne, who welcomed twins with her partner Andre Gray in August 2021, and asked her who was babysitting.
He asked the Black Magic and Woman Like Me hitmaker: "Who is babysitting tonight, because tomorrow's Sunday? Are you going out? Having it large?" And she replied: "Nana's at home."

However, his comment sparked annoyance with viewers taking to social media to blast the question. @maddenslucy tweeted: "Mo asking leigh anne who's looking after the children is literally so annoying when women are constantly reduced to being questioned about motherhood their whole lives. It's not like she was a part of the biggest girlband in the world or anything?"
@ElenaSurat17 commented: "Actually wanted to defend #mogilligan as I do generally like him, but as if he just asked Leigh-Anne, who was babysitting..... seriously, mo?" And @gemma_threlfall wrote: "Please tell me Mo Gilligan didn't just ask Leigh-Anne who's babysitting tonight."
@tayI0rde asked: "And WHY did mo ask leigh-anne who’s babysitting her kids???? he wouldn’t ask that if she was a man." And @babinaba tweeted: "Why are The Brits so awkward? I flicked it on and saw Mo talking to Leigh-Anne from Little Mix and it was so cringey."
But @Jess2812Mcgowan defended the host, saying: "I will personally fight everyone slating mo gilligan." @xCasSpeaksx praised: "The energy is LOWWWW at the brits God bless Mo he's really trying to hold it." And @jessxyka said: "Mo Gilligan is an amazing host man."
Leigh-Anne, who was at the event to hand out the British Group award which was won by Wet Leg, shot to fame with Little Mix formed on The X Factor in 2011. The band won British Group accolade in 2021, making them the first girl band to bag the gong ahead of their hiatus in 2022.
Last February it was announced that Leigh-Anne had signed a solo deal with Warner Records who stated: "Delighted to welcome Leigh-Anne Pinnock to the Warner Records family! Sign up for her mailing list to hear about exciting news first!"
She told Mo about being at the Brits without having to perform: "It is nice just enjoying the vibes, having a drink. Mamas's out tonight." Asked about her Brits highlight she said: "When we won best group. It only took us 10 years but we did it." "What can we expect this year?" he asked her. And she teased: "Music. Possibly."
