Britney Spears Shares Thoughts on Las Vegas Incident, Victor Wembanyama

After a bizarre, headline-making confrontation with Spurs forward Victor Wembanyama's security team in Las Vegas, singer Britney Spears took to Instagram to offer her perspective on the incident.

“Either way I’m still a huge fan [of Wembanyama],” Spears wrote. “It’s not his fault his security hit me… s— happens!”

The musician was filmed appearing to tap Wembanyama on the shoulder, at which point security moved to swat her hand away. Her hand then appeared to hit her face, causing Spears to yell, “F— you all!”

TMZ published video of the encounter Friday afternoon, which appeared to form a middle ground between Spears and Wembanyama’s accounts. Wembanyama’s contention that Spears grabbed him was proven incorrect, while Spears “did not fall as she indicated,” the gossip site noted.

"Not one time in my life has a security guard ever hit another person !!! I’m not sharing this to be a victim … I SIMPLY GET IT HONESTLY … my reaction was priceless," Spears said. "I have felt helpless in most situations and my experience in Vegas and my reaction was a cry out on all levels."

Spears, one of the most popular artists in the world at the turn of the 21st century, has been a subject of renewed media interest in recent years after details of her involuntary conservatorship became public in 2019. The conservatorship ended by court order in Nov. 2021.

For Wembanyama, the incident has come to overshadow his first Summer League with San Antonio. The rookie debuted against the Hornets Friday evening, making just 2-of-13 field goals en route to nine points in 27 minutes.
