Britney Spears has reunited with fellow superstar will.i.am to make a brand new song - over a decade after their last chart topping collaboration.
The 41-year-old pop babe and the 48-year-old Black Eyed Peas star have already recorded a brand new track that is expected to be unleashed this month.
The new track will be the first original tune from Britney since she was released from a controversial 13-year conservatorship in November 2021 - and will practically be her first new release since 2020.
Last year, the One More Time singer was featured on a collaborative single titled Hole Me Closer with Sir Elton John which reached number 3 in the UK.
Of Britney and Will’s new song, a source told The Sun on Sunday told fans to brace themselves for a ‘surprising’ new song.
The music source said: “Britney and Will have a huge amount of love and respect for each other and really trust each other’s musical judgment.
“Will has long been Britney’s No1 supporter and he wants to see her succeed.
“Both of them are excited to be releasing this surprise track and they know fans will love it.”
Britney and Will last collaborated back in 2012 with their smash single Scream & Shout which was noticeable for a distinct British accent that Britney sang with.
The dance-pop track sold more than 3 million copies in the USA alone and hit number 1 in almost 30 charts around the world - including the UK.
The song sparked a surprising legal backlash, however, when N Dubz icon Tulisa Contostavlos sensationally claimed she wrote the hit song for her 2012 album The Female Boss.
She launched a court case against will.i.am - and music fans were gobsmacked when she successfully sued the American star over the track.
During the time of the case, Will admitted: “Tulisa wrote to that song before I did – this is the truth. But the producers of the beat … didn’t want her to have it."
After winning the case in 2018, Tulisa was then added as a co-writer of the song - while it is also reported she supplied backing vocals on the track.
Discussing her win on ITV's Loose Women soon after her court victory, Tulisa said: “I don’t feel bad blood about it.
“At the end of the day it’s not a move I would have done.
"But look at the success that he’s got out of it and off the back, I can’t complain, I’ve got a Number One hit in loads of countries around the world, so everyone won.”
She added: “It’s a shame it had to go that way, but chicken dinner, everyone’s a winner.”
Britney’s most recent solo releases came in 2020 when her 2016 album Glory was re-released to include a number of additional tracks - including the fan favourite song Mood Ring.
