Britney Spears restaurant defends 'sweet star' and bans fan who was filming her

Britney Spears has been defended by the restaurant where she was accused of having a "meltdown" at a Los Angeles eatery.

The singer was said to have sparked concern after she was spotted "speaking gibberish" and acting "manic" in a video taken while she had dinner with her husband Sam Asghari on Friday night.

It had been reported that 28-year-old Sam "stormed out" of the restaurant, with Britney later leaving with her bodyguard.

However, the waiter who served the couple at LA restaurant JOEY has now spoken out to set the record straight and insisted Britney did not have a "manic episode".

He claimed the 41-year-old star had become "frustrated" after another diner "began randomly filming her". Britney then used a menu "to shield herself".

The staff member spoke to Twitter account Free Britney Live and said: "Britney was the sweetest person despite the uncomfortable situation she was put in by the other patron filming her."

He said she was "apologetic", even though she "had nothing to be sorry for".

The waiter added: "Sam did not storm off. He went to the restroom."

Sam and Britney were offered to move to a more private table in the restaurant but had already finished their meal.

JOEY accommodated the couple by allowing them to leave and send their bodyguard in to pay the bill, so they could avoid being filmed further.

The customer who had tried to get pictures of Britney was asked to leave the restaurant and "will not be allowed back".

The restaurant management further added: "All of our patrons should feel safe and respected when dining with us. We have taken the necessary steps to ensure this does not happen again and extend our sincerest apologies to Ms. Spears."

Britney addressed the incident on Instagram, writing: "I’m sure I brought a billion SMILES to me LOOKING LIKE SHREK at a restaurant. Even my best friend couldn’t WAIT TO SEND IT TO ME."

She added: "I know the news is all hyped about me being a little drunk at a restaurant … it’s like they’ll be WATCHING MY EVERY MOVE!!!

"I’m so flattered they talk about me like a maniac THEN have the balls to talk about all the negative things that happened in my past!!!

"Honestly it would be safer for me to compliment this world and f**k up because if I become a prophet and don’t create history, we might have something y’all… I’m just KIDDING, but it’s a good thought."

Britney finished her post writing: "I know y’all are rooting for me and all and make sure you check out the shocking Shrek picture of me.

"I was like damn that’s horrific yet there were two pics where I was normal … either way honestly I know nobody gives a flying f**k what I do!!!"
