Britney Spears has said she is "not in the mood to be with a bunch of people" following the announcement of her heartbreaking miscarriage.
The pop superstar, 40, announced last month that she was pregnant with her third child - she has two teenage sons, Sean and Jayden, with ex-husband Kevin Federline - and first with fiancé Sam Asghari.
Their engagement came in September last year, shortly before Britney's 13-year long conservatorship was finally terminated to allow her to regain her estate.
However on Saturday she announced that she had a miscarriage with an emotional post on Instagram.
It read: "It is with our deepest sadness we have to announce that we have lost our miracle baby early in the pregnancy. This is a devastating time for any parent.
"Perhaps we should have waited to announce until we were further along however we were overly excited to share the good news. Our love for each other is our strength.
"We will continue trying to expand our beautiful family. We are grateful for all of your support. We kindly ask for privacy during this difficult moment."
Britney received an outpouring of support from fans, social media followers and celebrity friends after the joint statement from her and her fiancé.
TV personality Paris Hilton wrote: "I'm so sorry for your loss sis. Always here for you. Sending you so much love. Love you lots B."
On Monday evening, the singer posted a meme from US comedy-drama series Sex and the City featuring character Carrie Bradshaw with smeared eye make-up which says: "I am not in the mood to be with a bunch of people."
Britney related to the post with a caption saying: "Unfortunately my mood these days … I honestly hope it doesn't turn into years!!!!"
The "Princess of Pop" was consoled by her 41.2 million followers with supportive messages.
One user wrote: "Give yourself some time. You've been through an awful LOT. We love you and we are mourning with you."
A second person said: "It is OK to not feel 100%, you have been through so much. Take care and send love."
Another person commented: "People are overrated. Enjoy your little family."
