Britney Spears has passionately hit out against documentaries that are being made about her without her permission.
The 40-year-old pop star has endured a lot of personal anguish over the past decade and a half – after being under a conservatorship that she battled to be released from, with authorities finally granting her wish in November last year.
In the past two years in particular, a string of specials and documentaries have been made about the star, her career highlights and her personal struggles.
But it seems Britney herself has had enough of unauthorised biographies being released about her life, and she has taken to social media to voice her concern.
She wrote in a lengthy online post: “I feel like America has done a wonderful job at humiliating me …”
She continued: “I’ve never felt more bullied in my life in this country it’s insane… and come on seriously is it honestly legal to do that many documentaries about someone without their blessing at all??!
“Seriously though, think about it… I’ve never seen that many documentaries done on a person … Will Smith, Gwyneth Paltrow, Jennifer Lopez. Not one person on the face of this earth would people - a network, TV production or anyone for that matter - dig up that much negative footage and do your specials claiming its ‘HELPING ME.’ REALLY ???”
She went on: “It was the most insulting thing I ever saw in my life and every person I have spoken to has said it’s why the conservatorship ended … REALLY ??? That’s the saddest thing I ever saw in my life.
“So people not only get away with what they did to me, not even coming close to sharing what they really did to me, but they can expose me on such n embarrassing tone claiming its to ‘Help me’.”
Her lengthy outburst, which went on to reiterate her felling that America had ‘bullied’ her, appeared to be sparked over fears that paparazzi had been trying to collate unflattering photographs of her.
She referenced a fact that, returning from a recent trip with her new husband, Sam Asghari, that she had been offered a golf buggy to transport her from her plane after arrival.
She suggested that usually she would be left to walk - and that this would be a common source of unflattering images.
She also reiterated her concern that documentaries made about her life included extensive unflattering imagery and video content of her.
However, after uploading her extensive views to Instagram, the star subsequently deleted the post – which had been shared on Saturday.
Since her conservatorship has ended, Britney has hinted that she plans to release a tell-all documentary about her life when the time is right for her.
