Britney Spears hints she is further along in her pregnancy than fans thought

Britney Spears has hinted she is further along than fans first thought following her announcement she is pregnant with her third child.

The 40-year-old singer has recently revealed that she is expecting a with fiancé Sam Asghari.

Taking to Instagram on Tuesday, the icon posted an artist’s impression of a baby in the womb.

She captioned the post: “REALLY ???? This is what’s going on with me????!!!!” followed by a string of pregnant woman emojis.

The image she posted has been used by numerous parenting and pregnancy websites to depict a fetus in the womb in the later stages of pregnancy.

One site uses the picture to inform parents to be what their baby is doing at 16 weeks and another at 36 weeks.

The picture shows a baby tucked up with its arms and legs fairly close together, showing it is running low on space, and well covered with body fat, suggesting it is edging closer to full term.

Fans were quick to flood the comments with excitement, with one speculating whether she is further along than fans first thought.

“I mean, not unless you’re months and months pregnant. Yours is more like a tadpole,” one follower said.

“Probably not yet! That looks like about a 20-25 week fetus unless you’re that far along?” a second said.

The Stronger singer already has two sons, Sean Preston, 16, and Jayden James, 15, from her previous marriage to Kevin Federline, which ended in 2006.

She has also spoken about the "absolutely horrible" perinatal depression she suffered when previously pregnant.

"But now women talk about it everyday … thank Jesus we don’t have to keep that pain a reserved proper secret," she said.

Britney had often said in the past that she hoped to have another child but during her 13-year conservatorship, she was mandated to stay on birth control by her father Jamie Spears, who presided over it until he ended his involvement last year.
