Britney Spears concerned her adoring fans after having a meltdown at a restaurant which resulted in husband Sam Asghari storming out and leaving her.
The pop icon, 41, went to well-renown Los Angeles restaurant JOEY on Friday evening for date night but the outing took a turn with Sam bolted through the front door and left her sitting at their table alone.
As the Hit Me Baby One More Time singer and her aspiring actor husband arrived at the packed restaurant situated in Woodland Hills, customers raced to their phones to grab photos and videos of the pop princess.
Eyewitnesses told TMZ that Britney became 'manic' as she yelled and speaking incoherently after getting drunk alongside her husband.
In one video, Britney seemed agitated as she looks over her left shoulder at the other tables and can be heard shouting something inaudible towards the waiter near her table which could not be picked up by the video. As she scans the room, Britney notices the person filming her and stares at them for a few seconds before eventually holding up a menu to cover her face.
Sam was not present in the video but was said to have been "visibly upset" and stormed out the restaurant, leaving his wife on her own according to bystanders.
Moments later, Britney also left the premises with a bodyguard, who apparently returned to pay the bill.
This comes after Sam rebuffed claims that he is controlling his wife more than a year after the end of her conservatorship.
Britney had been under the tight control of her father Jamie Spears and co-conservators since 2008 but she managed to get her life back in in November 2021 when a ruled the conservatorship should come to an end - giving Britney control of her personal life and fortune - which she described as the "best day ever".
The 28-year-old model has been accused by fans of being in charge of his spouse's social media posts after a string of bizarre and worrying uploads in recent weeks.
Sam hit back at the claims but admitted he understands why her "good fans" have made assumptions about his role in Britney's life.
Querying whether or not he was controlling his wife, Sam told TMZ : "No, I don’t even control what we have for dinner. You know, in the past, there has been a lot of stuff going on, so I understand where [fans are] coming from. They’re just being protective. If anything, they’re being good fans."
