Britney Spears has been granted a temporary restraining order against ex-husband Jason Alexander
(Picture: Britney Spears / Instagram)Britney Spears has been granted a temporary restraining order against her ex-husband Jason Allen Alexander after he attempted to gatecrash her wedding to Sam Asghari at her home in California.
Alexander, who Spears wed during a Las Vegas ceremony in 2004 – before the marriage was annulled 55 hours later – broke into the premises on Thursday, prior to the ceremony beginning.
Filming the incident on Instagram Live, he was seen demanding: “Where’s Britney?… I’m here to crash the wedding, “referring to the Toxic singer as his “first and only wife”.
The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to investigate a trespassing complaint and arrested the 40-year-old on an outstanding warrant.
Spears’ attorney, Mathew Rosengart, said she was “absolutely livid” that her ex had tried to spoil her big day.
He has since confirmed that an “emergency protective order” has been put in place and expires after five to seven calendar days.
“I thank the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office for their good work,” Mr Rosengart said in a statement via Billboard.
Condemning Alexander for his actions, he added: “This was an outrageous and disgraceful security breach and I hope law enforcement does everything possible to ensure Mr. Alexander is fully and vigorously prosecuted and convicted for his criminal actions.”
After Alexander’s arrest, Spears’ marriage to Iranian fitness model Asghari continued without issue.
This marked the Louisiana native’s third trip down the aisle. After Alexander, she was married to Kevin Federline from 2004-2007.
Spears and Federline share two children together, neither of whom decided to attend the nuptials.
High profile wedding guests included Madonna, Selena Gomez, Drew Barrymore, Paris Hilton and Kathy Hilton.
Most of the popstar’s family were not invited, including father Jamie Spears, mother Lynne Spears and sister Jamie Lynn Spears. Her brother Brian Spears did however attend.
