Britney Spears' fans shared their outrage when documentary Framing Britney Spears played back a cruel Family Fortunes episode mocking the star.

Savage scenes resurfaced where Family Fortunes contestants were naming "something Britney Spears has lost in the past year" as part of the 2008 game show in the US.

Framing Britney Spears, which was produced by the New York Times, shines a light on the singer's mental health battle and controversial conservatorship put in place after her breakdown in 2007.

The hotly-anticipated documentary dug up the Family Fortunes episode where the singing sensation was cruelly mocked while the TV audience cheered.

Social media was awash with fans sharing an outpouring of anger over the re-surfaced clip in a slew of tweets.

Fans branded the game show TV moment as "unbelievable and cruel" towards the singer.

Among the sea of comments, one wrote: "‘Name something Britney Spears has lost in the past year’ The frankly unbelievable & cruel moment from the US version of Family Fortunes, as shown in #FramingBritneySpears."

They guessed Britney had lost "her hair" for 39 points, "her mind" for 15 points and "her marriage/husband" for 14 points.

Two of the slots were left unguessed in the clip which was unearthed from 2008.

The clip begun doing the rounds on social media as Britney's fans shared their absolute horror over the game show scenes.

Some fans admitted it had "broke" them while they watched the explosive documentary.

They guessed Britney had lost "her hair" for 39 points, "her mind" for 15 points and "her marriage/husband" for 14 points (GSN)
