Britney Spears' fans confused as she praises sister Jamie Lynn after calling her 'scum'

Britney Spears confused fans when she praised her little sister Jamie Lynn, after previously calling the 31-year-old "scum".

The Stronger singer, 41, had very public falling out with the mum-of-two when she accused her sibling of being a "f*****g liar" during her conservatorship challenge.

However on Friday, Britney appeared to have made a U-turn, taking to Instagram to pay tribute to her "brave" sibling.

Sharing a picture of Jamie-Lynn playing the guitar, she praised her sister for taking part in Fox's Special Forces - a military-style reality show for celebrities.

Captioning the post, she wrote: "It's my b-day but you're my heart so I'm thinking about you … congratulations on being so brave, inspiring, and showing guts and glory in your show!!!"

Britney then appeared to reply to Jamie Lynn's quote about wanting to feel 'worthy' while 'proving herself' on the gruelling show, which will premiere January 4, 2023.

"You ain't alone … if anybody knows what that feels like … I get it," wrote Britney, who appeared to be referring to her now-terminated conservatorship.

The star concluded: "My baby sister !!! I love you !!!"

Fans were baffled by Britney's tribute.

Flocking to the comments section, some thought the My Prerogative star's account had been hacked while others thought the singer was throwing shade.

One wrote: "This has to be shade" while another mused: "The math ain't mathing Brit."

A third said thought Britney's husband Sam Ashgari was behind the post, writing: '"Her man has her account now. He's part of the plan. I'm convinced dad hired him. I said what I said."

While another said: "Someone stole her account."

However, other's supported the possibility of the sisters' reunion, with one replying: "Y'all should be excited for her to have a relationship with her sister. If that's what they both want, and they've reconciled that's a beautiful gift and blessing."

Jamie and Britney have had a strained relationship since details of the star's controversial conservatorship were revealed.

For almost 14 years the singer's business and personal affairs were largely controlled by her father Jamie - including, Britney said, her method of contraception.

Britney has publicly fought with Jamie Lynn since speaking out about her alleged treatment while under the conservatorship, which resulted in the star not inviting her 'baby sister' to her wedding to actor Sam Asghari, 28, in June.

Earlier this year, the Lucky star called Jamie Lynn 'scum' after she published the controversial memoir titled, Things I Should Have Said.

Slamming her sibling on Instagram, Britney wrote: "The timing of your book was unbelievable Jamie Lynn."

The singer also said despite her family's claims they were unaware of the 'abuse', her 'whole family' knew what was happening in the former conservatorship.

Writing about Jamie Lynn's book, she quipped: "Congrats best seller … I’m not surprised at all.

"The nerve of you to sell a book now and talk s**t but your [sic] f***ing lying."
