Britney Spears’ ex Kevin Federline says he was 'mortified' by her conservatorship battle

Britney Spears’ ex Kevin Federline says he “feels bad” after her 13-year conservatorship.

He addressed his lack of public support for his ex-wife in a bombshell TV interview which airs in Australia this weekend.

Speaking to 60 Minutes Australia the 44-year-old former backup dancer tells-all about their complicated life.

The channel has released a short teaser in which Kevin explains his relationship with the 40-year-old songstress was “amazing — until it wasn't”.

He also reveals that he didn’t get involved or support Britney in her attempts to end her conservatorship to focus on their sons.

The former couple share boys 16-year-old Sean and 15-year-old Jayden.

Despite seemingly snubbing his public support for Britney during her battle for freedom, Kevin did admit he still felt bad for the ‘Toxic’ singer.

“I was mortified for her. I really was,” he said, adding, “I still feel bad.”

They only dated for three months in 2004 before they got engaged in July that year – tying the knot by September.

Britney gave birth Sean in September 2005, and Jayden in 2006 – but the pair filed for divorce in November 2006 before they were officially separated in 2007.

When Britney tied the knot for a third time to her partner Sam Asghari in June, her two boys with Kevin were notably absent.

“The boys have decided they are not seeing her right now,” Kevin told ITV in August. He explained it was linked to some racy images their mum was posting online.

"It’s been a few months since they’ve seen her. They made the decision not to go to her wedding,” he added.

Britney has since hit back at claims the boys weren’t seeing her due to her social media activities, saying the conflict goes back “before Instagram ”.

“It saddens me to hear that my ex husband has decided to discuss the relationship between me and my children,” she penned, ironically, on Instagram.

"As we all know, raising teenage boys is never easy for anyone … it concerns me the fact that the reason is based on my Instagram.

“It was LONG before Instagram … I gave them everything … Only one word: HURTFUL.”

Kevin’s new comments come after Britney spoke at length about her experiences during her decade-long legal conservatorship and chronologically detailed the events that led up to her father taking control of her decisions and finances.

The songstress, who has just released a new tune with Elton John, also alleged her 2008 forced hospitalisation was pre-meditated to help her family took control of her assets.

However, she made the surprising claim that, despite previous reports, there was no drugs or alcohol in her system prior to her hospitalisation.

"It was all basically set up," She said. "There was no drugs in my system, no alcohol, nothing. It was pure abuse. And I haven’t even really shared half of it.

"All I do remember is I had to do what I was told. I was told I was fat every day. I had to go to the gym, I had to just … I remember feeling so demoralised. They made me feel like nothing. And I went along with it because I was scared. I was scared and fearful."
