Britney Spears ' ex-husband Jason Alexander turned out to support her by attending the #FreeBritney rally in Los Angeles yesterday as she as fights her conservatorship.
The pop superstar, 38, is challenging the court order which puts her dad Jamie in charge of her affairs and has been in place since her highly-public breakdown in 2008.
She is being supported by the #FreeBritney movement and many followers gathered outside the courthouse in downtown LA yesterday.
Jason - who married Britney in Las Vegas in 2004 - was among them and he spoke out in support of his ex.
In a video published online, he insisted Britney deserves to be given more freedom.
He said: "She does get to do things, and maybe go on a vacation for a week, but it's all supervised and it's not like she can just go do what she wants.
"She's ready man, for this to be over with, it's holding her back. It's really sad and probably affects her relationship with her kids ad people like me and the fans who she'd like to hang out with."
When asked about her dad Jamie, who has acted as conservator for the majority of the 12-year period, Jason added: "He's a big part of the problem, but it's bigger than that.
"You know he's just kind of playing his role.
"That's why I said today should be about ending the conservatorship not changing the conservator."
Jason added that he's hoping to try and see Britney during his trip to California.
The pair are childhood friends and tied the knot in a shock ceremony in Sin City in 2004.
The marriage was annulled just 55 hours later, with court documents stating the singer "lacked understanding of her actions".
Britney's life has been controlled by the conservatorship, run by her dad Jamie since 2008.
She is now asking a judge to remove him and replace him with an independent professional conservator, Jodi Montgomery, who took over from Jamie in 2019 after he suffered a health crisis.
However, her legal bid is believed to have hit a roadblock.
In a closed hearing, it was decided to extend the current arrangements until February 2021, according to a court document posted online by fans.
It means Britney will have to wait until next year to push for Jamie to be permanently removed from the conservatorship.
