Britney Spears 'could have been princess' after 'cyber romance' with Prince William

Pop princess Britney Spears could have been a real princess had a romance with Prince William flourished.

At the height of her fame, the singer allegedly struck up a 'cyber romance' with the new Prince of Wales. She allegedly began chatting to the royal online when she was just a teenager, however things sadly fizzled out and they both went on to lead very different lives.

An interview with talk show host Frank Skinner back in 2002 has resurfaced recently showing a 20-year-old Britney confessing that she had struck up a relationship with the young Prince over email. She claimed that she even went as far as asking him out to dinner.

However, the Baby One More Time performer also revealed she was allegedly stood up by the royal. She said: "We exchanged e-mails for a little bit and he was supposed to come and see me somewhere but it didn't work out."

Buckingham Palace had always dismissed any claims of them dating. However, royal biographer, Christopher Andersen, later shed a little more light on the situation.

In his book Brothers and Wives: Inside the Private Lives of William, Kate, Harry and Meghan, he wrote: "[William and Britney] tried to get together back when they were young. There may have been phone conversations, but I don't recall that they ever actually managed to get together during that period."

Since 2003, William has been in a relationship with his now wife Kate Middleton. They went on to tie the knot in 2011 and now have three children together - George, Charlotte and Louis.

Recently, Britney seems to have also found her happy ever after as she got married to current husband Sam Asghari earlier this year, after meeting in 2016. He has been her rock as she battled to end her conservatorship legal battle against her dad.
