Britney Spears has issued a lengthy statement following fans calling the police concerned about her earlier this week.
The Gimmie More singer, 41, says she feels like she is being 'gaslit and bullied' and hopes the public and her fans will respect her privacy moving forward.
Britney admits that while she loves and adores her fans, she feels 'things went a little too far' and her privacy was invaded.
The mum-of-two deleted her Instagram account earlier this week - causing fans of the award-winning star to call the police and request they carry out a welfare check.
Deputies from the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office paid the pop icon a visit at her Thousand Oaks home Tuesday night around 11PM to perform the welfare check as requested.
Writing on Twitter on Thursday night, Britney said: "As everyone knows the police were called to my home based on some prank phone calls. I love and adore my fans but this time things went a little too far and my privacy was invaded.
"The police never entered my home and when they came to my gate they quickly realized there was no issue and left immediately. This felt like I was being gaslit and bullied once the incident made it to the news and being portrayed once again in a poor and unfair light by the media."
The star concluded with: "During this time in my life, I truly hope the public and my fans who I care so much about can respect my privacy moving forward. All the love, B."
One of Britney's fan account on Twitter replied to the star's tweet, writing: "Britney WE love you so much! I hope you know that you’re REAL fans would of never of done this!
"We respect you wholeheartedly queen and just want the best for you."
Another added: "We love you so much, Queen and we are sorry for those so called 'fans'. You truly deserve so much respect. We’ll always be here for you."
Some of Britney's fans grew concerned earlier this month thanks to the Hold Me Closer singer reminiscing about her past relationship with Justin Timberlake before admitting "she's learning" and sharing a video as she got a "regretful" tattoo.
The star then changed her name on Instagram to River Red, prompting fans to take to Twitter to share their concern.
Before deleting her account, Britney took to the platform last week to share a cryptic post about being different to other people.
She wrote: "Rational people... I had one of these and it disappeared!!! I could sit back and be like MOST and not give anyone anything to think about on Instagram...
"But interest is what serves most and being good!!!"
She added: "Being good can and will wrap things up in a seashell!!! Living the lavida loco life!!!"
Britney also wrote: "It gets better because that's what I aim for!!!
"Keep coughing playas and just remember to watch your back!!! Or you might just get caught!!! Yep sucks to be me."
Finishing her final post, Britney wrote: "Keep talking s**t or maybe it will just rain from the sky!!! Giving someone I love my everything only gives me the dagger in the heart!!!
"So at this point... I generously serve you my s**t... eat my s**t."
