Britney Spears blasts fans as going ‘too far’ for sending police to her home

Britney Spears has blasted fans for sending the police to her home for a wellness check earlier this week.

The pop star, 41, said she felt "gaslit and bullied" by the move and hoped her privacy would be respected moving forward.

Saying she believed they “went a little too far", she added in a statement on Twitter on Thursday night: “As everyone knows the police were called to my home based on some prank phone calls.

“I love and adore my fans but this time things went a little too far and my privacy was invaded.

“The police never entered my home and when they came to my gate they quickly realised there was no issue and left immediately.

“This felt like I was being gaslit and bullied once the incident made it to the news and being portrayed once again in a poor and unfair light by the media."

The mother-of-two concluded with: “During this time in my life, I truly hope the public and my fans who I care so much about can respect my privacy moving forward. All the love, B.”

Spears had caused alarm among her fans after deleting her Instagram account earlier this week. In response, they called the police and requested that they carry out a welfare check.

Deputies from the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office then turned up at the star’s Thousand Oaks home on Tuesday night around 11PM.

The concern from fans was sparked because earlier this month the Hit Me Baby One More Time singer had been exhibiting increasingly odd behaviour online, including changing her name on Instagram to River Red.

Before deleting her account, she also shared a bizarre post.

She wrote: “Rational people... I had one of these and it disappeared!!! I could sit back and be like MOST and not give anyone anything to think about on Instagram...

“But interest is what serves most and being good!!!"

The star, who has also been criticised by her two teenage sons for posing semi-nude on social media, deleted her Instagram account this week (Britney Spears/Instagram)

She added: “Being good can and will wrap things up in a seashell!!! Living the lavida loco life!!!"

Britney also wrote: “It gets better because that’s what I aim for... Yep sucks to be me...

“Keep talking s**t or maybe it will just rain from the sky!!! Giving someone I love my everything only gives me the dagger in the heart!!!

“So at this point... I generously serve you my s**t... eat my s**t.”
