Britney Spears 'assaulted by NBA star's bodyguard in Las Vegas'

Britney Spears has filed a police complaint after she was allegedly smacked in the face by a basketball star's security team, according to reports.

The singer was reportedly smacked in the face by one of San Antonio Spurs player Victor Wembanyama’s bodyguards on Wednesday night reports the Mirror.

One of the sportsman's team is claimed to have assaulted the 41-year-old at French cuisine restaurant 'Catch' situated inside the Aria Hotel in Las Vegas.

According to the US website TMZ, Spears was a “fan” of the player, going up to him to ask for a photo together.

She allegedly “tapped him on his back, right shoulder”, however, the security then allegedly “backhanded her.”

According to reports, the 'Toxic' singer fell to the ground - with her glasses being knocked off her face - before returning to her table to compose herself.

The security guard later apologised to the pop star.

“You understand how it is when you’re being swarmed by fans,” he allegedly told the music superstar, which she reportedly accepted.

However, now it has been reported that Britney - who has been the focus of various news reports in recent years - reportedly filed a police report, with an investigation pending.

TMZ also claimed it will not be handled as a criminal matter as it was reportedly determined that the bodyguard was attempting to defend the sports star and did not intentionally mean to harm the pop star.

It's said the guard didn't know who the singer was when he slapped her.

The singer's husband Sam Asghari was reportedly present, along with two others.

Spears had recently posted to social media in celebration of the Fourth of July.

The singer and their husband Asghari were both active on social media to mark Independence Day.

She shared a video in which she danced and twirled to the camera in a pink drawstring bikini.

Iranian-born actor husband Asghari meanwhile wrote a much more touching tribute. He wrote a tribute about freedom on his Instagram Stories, indicating he hopes others get the freedom he had sought as a child.

Spears has regularly been posting clips of her dancing to the social media channel in recent months.

Wembanyama was selected to play for Spurs with the first overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft earlier this month. The 19-year-old will be part of the Spurs Summer League team in Las Vegas at the 2K24 Summer League, which starts tomorrow (July 7).
