Britney Spears announces she is pregnant with her third child

Popstar Britney Spears has revealed she is expecting her third child. The 40-year-old revealed she had taken a test after being teased about a "food pregnancy" by her partner Sam Asghari.

In a lengthy social media post this morning she revealed it actually turned out she was expecting another child. It will be her first with the 28-year-old as she shares two sons Sean, 16, and Jayden, 15, with ex Kevin Federline.

Writing on Instagram, the Hit Me Baby One More Time singer said: "I lost so much weight to go on my Maui trip only to gain it back … I thought 'Geez … what happened to my stomach ?' My husband said “No you’re food pregnant silly.

"So I got a pregnancy test … and uhhhhh well … I am having a baby. Four days later I got a little more food pregnant. It’s growing."

The singer went on to reveal she would "lose it" if it turned out she was having twins. She also said she would be spending more time in private due to previous struggles during her pregnancies.

She added: "It's hard because when I was pregnant I had perinatal depression. I have to say it is absolutely horrible… women didn’t talk about it back then … some people considered it dangerous if a woman complained like that with a baby inside her … but now women talk about it everyday."

The news of Britney's pregnancy comes after she released from a conservatorship that had controlled her life for more than 13 years. Imposed in 2008, it reportedly meant she was not in control of her finances, career and personal life decisions.

But in late 2021, it was ended by the court, meaning the singer was able to take control of her estate and look after her own affairs. Prior to it being lifted, she said the team running the conservatorship would not let her have another baby or marry her partner.
