British tennis hero in Lionel Messi link-up as icon told 'to sign for Rangers'

Rangers-supporting British tennis hero Gordon Reid linked up with Lionel Messi in Miami last night.

The 33-year-old has won five Paralympic medals throughout his career: two golds, two silvers, and a bronze.

He is also the Australian Open 2016 men’s singles champion, Wimbledon 2016 men’s singles champion, and a 25-time Grand Slam doubles champion.

In Miami for the Miami Open, Reid recently met up with Messi, who is currently plying his trade for the city's MLS outfit.

Taking to X, the tennis player revealed that he jokingly told the Argentine to one day sign for Rangers:

Messi has played twice against the Ibrox club throughout his lengthy career, with both appearances coming within the space of a month.

Indeed, the legendary attacker scored one and assisted another across two games against Rangers in the 2007/08 UEFA Champions League group stage.

Now 37 years of age, his contract with Inter Miami expires at the end of the current calendar year.

Messi moved stateside in the summer of 2023 after a brief spell with Paris Saint-Germain.
