Britain’s Hannah Klugman made history by winning the prestigious Orange Bowl junior championships at the age of 14.
In doing so, the Wimbledon teenager became the first Briton in history to win the prestigious title.
Past winners have included Chris Evert, Caroline Wozniacki and Coco Gauff, and it is put on a par alongside the junior Grand Slams of tennis.
Klugman, who has long been earmarked as a future star in the senior ranks, won the title in Florida by beating American Tyra Caterina Grant 6-3, 6-3.
It follows an impressive 2023 in which she had already become the youngest player to qualify for a £80,000 event on the ITF World Tour, beating Gauff to that record in the process.
Following the biggest title of her career, she said: “It’s an amazing feeling. I played 14s last year and made the final. I was really gutted I didn’t get the win and obviously to get the win at under-18s, it’s incredible.
“This is still just part of the journey – a little step – but it’s nice. I was walking past the poster with all the great players [past winners].
"I saw Coco Gauff. It’s good I can be on that board but it doesn’t mean anything in the big picture. But hopefully I can make it.”
