British stars shine on the Met Gala red carpet - angelic Kate Moss to regal Naomi Campbell

Supermodels Kate Moss and Noami Campbell led the British stars gracing the Met Gala steps last night.

From graceful satin ensembles to bold, contrasting grunge-style looks, the Brits went all out when paying homage to Karl Lagerfield at this year's prestigious fashion event.

The celebrities posed on the steps at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York to debut their looks.

Kate, 49, wore a stunning satin full-length slip dress by Fendi. Kate's angelic look included a lace trim and had sheer, full length sleeves, which stopped just short of the floor.

Kate's pink dress was accessorised with a short diamond necklace which rested on her collarbone and she let her eyes do the talking with her makeup as she wore a smoky eye look.

The supermodel's pink gown was matched by her daughter Lila Moss, who's Fendi dress was also create by late designer Karl.

20-year-old Lila's dress fluffy pink dress had a plunging neckline as the middle section included a see-through corset.

Lila added a pair of sparkling strappy heels and wore her hair in a slick, down do with a middle parting as she attended the swanky soirée with her mum.

Naomi Campbell channelled her inner goddess as she wore a molten pink gown from Chanel's spring/summer 2010 collection.

The dress featured luscious pink silky material, which draped over one of Naomi's shoulders and was trimmed with swirling silver sequins on Naomi's shoulder and hip.

The pink fabric also made up the straight, full length skirt on the dress, while the top section of the dress had a swirling silver pattern made from sequins in a Grecian-inspired look.

She added sparkling silver accessories to the look and had a shimmering pink eyeshadow on her lids along with a sophisticated flick of eyeliner.

Naomi wore her long locks in a smooth down hairstyle with a middle parting as she posed on the steps.

From graceful to grungy, Lily James opted for an edgy leather gown with a full skirt during the biggest night in fashion.

The 34-year-old actress' dress had a corset-style top with a flower made from leather, a signature nod to Chanel which Karl designed for, on the bodice.

The dress also had a waist belt and a pleated skirt, which she matched with a pair of punky black gloves, two diamond necklaces and stud earrings.

Lily also underwent a hair transformation for the event as she sported s choppy micro-fringe.

The Pam and Tommy actress had her makeup done curtesy of Charlotte Tilbury, who also attended the event alongside Lily in a gorgeous emerald green dress.

Meanwhile, Florence Pugh made a statement in a white Valentino gown with a long train and a black bow, which tied between the scooping cut out to show off the 27-year-old's midriff.

The actress opted to shave her head for the occasion and added a dramatic, tall feather headdress to her buzzcut.

Florence added a pair of pearl drop earrings and layers of silver bracelets to finish off the look.

Emily Blunt also opted for a monochrome look as she wore a white lace blouse with a turtle neckline and long sleeves.

The blouse boasted a large, black sheer bow which had a flower in the middle.

Devil Wears Prada actress Emily's waist was cinched in with a deep black waistband along with a pair of sequin black trousers, which had a dramatic matching cape draped over it and a pair of incredibly tall, black patent heels.

Emily was joined by designer Michael Kors at the event and the pair posed for snaps together.

Singer Dua Lipa turned heads in her gorgeous, off-white textured gown with a black and silver trim around the scooping neckline, edge of the bodice and the trim of the full skirt.

And finally, no swanky red carpet is complete without Rita Ora stealing the show in a head-turning look.

The Hot Right Now singer was a vision in a black see-through, mesh-panelled dress with chiffon draped over sections.

The daring number also had floral patterns appliquéd over one shoulder and down one leg of the number.

She also boasted long diamond chains attached to her black nails – one of which had a Chanel logo on in a nod to late designer Karl.

Her accessorises are said to have totalled $90,000 (£72,000) and she oozed confidence as she posted with her husband Taika Waititi.
