The country's biggest soap stars took to the red carpet on Saturday night, hoping their hard work throughout the year would get them recognised at The British Soap Awards 2023. Tonight (Tues), the ceremony will be broadcast on ITV with Yorkshire lass Jane McDonald presenting the show.
As the stars of the screen took to their seats, they were taken on a wild ride through soap and the biggest storylines to air since last year.
The Soap Awards - held at The Lowry Theatre in Salford - was this year presented by Yorkshire lass Jane McDonald, after Phillip Schofield pulled out. The Mirror reports that over the past year, viewers have been glued to their screens as they followed the lives of their favourite characters, as well as painfully waved goodbye to some.

This year, Dot Branning left Eastenders following June Brown's death, while Ryan Prescott became the victim of an acid attack on Coronation Street. Emmerdale's 50th anniversary celebrations took precedent - but the soap went home with just one award, with Mark Charnock - the Dales' Marlon Dingle winning the Outstanding Achievement Award.
Viewers were not happy, with one writing on Facebook: "My favourite soap came out bottom." Another viewer wrote to Emmerdale on Twitter: "You were robbed."
One added: "I can't stop thinking about Emmerdale winning one award."
