The British Soap Awards brought a touch of glamour to a week night as fans of Coronation Street, Hollyoaks, Emmerdale, EastEnders and Doctors tuned in to see how the star-studded evening unfolded.
The stars of the ITV, BBC and Channel 4 soaps dressed up to the nines and headed to The Lowry theatre at Salford Quays on Saturday night for the glitzy awards bash as it was recorded in front of a live audience. However, fans who didn't get tickets couldn't see what happened on the night until Tuesday (June 6) when the awards aired on ITV.
The awards ceremony was presented by singer and TV favourite Jane McDonald. She was drafted in at the last minute after Phillip Schofield pulled out of all ITV commitments following his affair confession.

And it was a busy night as once the soap stars took their seats in the auditorium, they were left waiting to see if they or their cast members had been successful in the 14 different categories before taking to the stage and collecting their silver shining gong.
But as the British Soap Awards 2023 kicked off, viewers flocked to social media as they instantly spotted the same problem and shared their complaints about it.
@ShakyWoon tweeted: "All ready to watch #BritishSoapAwards2023, not that there's any point of watching tbh since we can't will on who will win what category as we already know! #SoapAwards." @Ash__Oso said: "It would’ve been so much better to have filmed the #britishsoapawards2023 live."
@ANeighboursFan echoed: "Shoulda been live #britishsoapawards2023 #BSA2023." @EmilieHermanOF posted: "Petition for #BSA #BritishSoapAwards would start showing the awards LIVE! Sick of finding out who’s won days before it’s aired on TV!" @kellycrumpton94 added: "Bit pointless watching #BritishSoapAwards when i pretty much know who wins what but still going to watch it anyway to pass the time."
