British Soap Awards 2022 nominations as shows battle it out at London's Hackney Empire

London's Hackney Empire will be packed to the rafters with cast, crew and fans on Saturday night as the famous venue hosts the British Soap Awards 2022.

Always a big ratings winner for ITV, the event was forced onto the backburner by the Covid pandemic in 2020 and 2021, with the sop teams and viewers gutted. However, the Awards will make a triumphant return this weekend, with This Morning legend Phillip Schofield once again at the helm.

The Soap Awards are like the Oscars of the British soap world and, as well as honouring programmes, actors and crew from home grown programmes, this year's event is said to pay a special nod to Neighbours, which filmed its final episode this week.
