A BRITISH man has been killed in Ukraine with a second man missing, the Foreign Office said on Thursday.
The pair were thought to be volunteers fighting against the invading Russian force in support of the Ukrainian army. However, this has not been confirmed.
The Foreign Office did not offer any further details on what the two men were doing in Ukraine.
A Foreign Office spokesperson said: "We can confirm that a British national has been killed in Ukraine and are supporting their family."
Regarding the second British man, the spokesperson said: "We are aware of a British national who is missing in Ukraine and are supporting their family. We are urgently seeking further information."
The Foreign Office did not clarify when the British man was killed or when the other man went missing and is urgently seeking more information.
Volunteers from all over the world have gone to Ukraine to help fend off the invading Russian soldiers, including some British army veterans.
When the war broke out in February, Ukraine’s government made a plea for volunteers from across the globe to come and help them fight against Putin’s invasion.
However, the UK Government has advised that British citizens should not travel to Ukraine to join the fight and that there are other more appropriate ways they can support the war-torn country.
Despite the Government’s advice, a number of people have gone to Ukraine to support the fight against the invading Russian force.
