A 20-year-old British man has died in Turkey after falling down a lift shaft while on holiday, it has been reported.
Tyler Kerry died in Antalya during a trip around the country with his girlfriend and his grandparents, according to the Sun.
The labourer was found unresponsive at a hotel. He was alone at the time and it is not known how he came to fall down the shaft.
His family reportedly believe the most likely explanation is that he pressed the button for the lift and, as it was an old-fashioned model, stepped into the shaft before the cabin had arrived.
Mr Price was based in Pitsea, Essex, and had told friends he was having a great time with his girlfriend Molly and grandparents Collette and Ray.
Alex Price, Tyler’s uncle, told the Basildon Echo: “He was an energetic, exuberant young lad who was just settling into his life.
“He had a stable job, had just got himself a new car and was beginning to think about moving in with his girlfriend.”
He added that Tyler was a massive fan of both Manchester United and Southend United. It is understood that he has two younger brothers.
Tyler’s mother Rachael was trying to get to Turkey and the family now have a challenge in getting the body back home for a funeral.
More than £3,500 has now been raised in a GoFundMe account to try and support the family.
Alex Price, who started the fundraiser, added: “We are all absolutely devastated. We are asking for any donations towards the unforeseen costs of dealing with the consequences of such a tragic incident.”
A FCDO Spokesperson said: “We are assisting the family of a British man who has died in Turkey.”
