The hours spent waiting for British-Israeli hostage Emily Damari to be released from Gaza have been agonizing for her family. Damari is one of three Israeli hostages expected to be released from Gaza on Sunday, following the start of a long-awaited ceasefire.
According to a representative, these final few hours have been the most agonizing after nearly 500 days of unending torment for Damari's family. The representative mentioned that Damari's mother has been eagerly awaiting the moment when she can see her daughter alive and give her a hug she's been dreaming of. The proximity to this long-awaited reunion has intensified the pain for the family.

Damari was abducted from her home in Kfar Aza on October 7, 2023. The incident involved Hamas gunmen storming her house, shooting her dog, and injuring Damari's hand. She was then blindfolded and taken to Gaza in the back of her own car.
In a statement shared with a local news channel, Damari's mother described the past 15 months as nightmarish. She expressed deep concern for her daughter's well-being during her captivity, acknowledging that the experience must have been significantly more challenging for Damari than for herself.
