British influencer fighting for life after being found unconscious with organ failure in South Korea

A British influencer is currently fighting for her life after she was found unconscious by authorities in her South Korean apartment.

Ashley Surcombe, a 29-year-old influencer originally from Evesham, was found unresponsive on the bathroom floor after concerned loved ones raised the alarm when they didn’t hear from her.

Surcome, who had been living in South Korea for five years and boasts almost half a million followers on Instagram, was meant to have a phone call with her family but didn’t respond, prompting them to call the police.

Local authorities reportedly entered her apartment on March 24, where they found Ms Surcombe unresponsive.

She was rushed to hospital with severe dehydration and organ failure, with an investigation now underway into the mysterious incident.

Speaking to the Mail Online, her sister Kat Surcombe spoke about her family’s strife as they desperately try to understand what happened.

“We just don’t know what happened and we are trying to find out exactly, but it’s been difficult, and we have had to rely on contacts out there,” she said.

“She was found unresponsive and unconscious on the floor; she didn’t have any broken bones, but she was severely dehydrated and has major organ failure.”

Kat added: ‘We were supposed to speak with her at 8pm on Sunday (Korean time) but she never answered, and we didn’t get any response from messages so that’s when we called police through a friend of my dad who has contacts out there.

“About a week ago she told us she she hit her head against the door and got a nasty bruise on her eye.”

Her family have recently set up a Go Fund Me to fund Ms Surcombe’s extortionate hospital fees because her health insurance expired.

Apparently a stay in the ICU can cost up to £1,500 a day in South Korea.

According to the Go Fund Me page, her parents paid £3,000 up front as a deposit for her treatment, but the costs continue to rise.

The page reads: “My little sister, Ashley, who has been living over 5,500 miles away in Seoul, was found unconscious and unresponsive in her apartment on Monday, 24th March.

“She’s currently in the ICU with severe dehydration and multiple organ damage. We don’t yet know the full extent of the damage, but we do know it’s serious.”
