A six-year-old British girl has been seriously injured in a car crash in which her mother died on the island of Ibiza.
Spanish officials are yet to release the name of the child, who was flown to the Hospital Son Espases in Palma, Majorca.
It was reported that the girl and her mother, 42, were in a head-on crash with a rental car, whose driver lost control of the vehicle.
The child’s mother was lifted out of the wreckage but pronounced dead at the scene on Wednesday afternoon.
A third car overturned as it swerved to avoid the crash.
A Norwegian woman, 40, was also injured in the three-crash crash and remains in hospital in Ibiza.
It is not clear if the mother and daughter were tourists or living on the island.
