Hotel operator Britannia is looking to expand one of its Merseyside hotels.
The infamous hotel chain which owns a number of hotels across the region including Adelphi in Liverpool and the Prince of Wales in Southport is now looking to spend some money on an expansion which will see ten bedrooms added to the Clifton Hotel in Southport.
Britannia, ranked the worst hotel chain in the UK by consumer group Which? for ten years running, has lodged a planning application with Sefton Council as it looks to splash out on renovations at the historic Promenade hotel.

The plans show that the company is looking to change the use of function rooms into 10 new bedrooms, adding to the 120 bedrooms already in the hotel.
The design and access statement said: "Additional bedrooms are proposed to be formed within the envelope of existing function rooms or rooms disused. Each proposed new room will be subdivided by reversible partitions, which can be removed at all times, allowing to restore the original features.
"The partitions made of metal studs with double plasterboards for fire protection and insulation for acoustic purposes; also the perimeter of the existing rooms, to preserve its original character, will be protected by installing metal stud, detached from the existing walls, finished with plasterboards and finely finished and decorated; finally suspended ceilings will also be added to preserve the original features to the existing."
Sefton Council is yet to make a decision on the plans after they were submitted at the beginning of the month.
