It was an all-singing, all-dancing start to the 16th series of Britain's Got Talent as Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly showed contestants how it's done. The popular hosts opened the new series, with a new judge Bruno Tonioli, with a high-energy sketch that saw Ant and Dec waking up to a 7am alarm call declaring "today's the day."
"The first day of auditions!" they exclaimed before the long-running ITV talent show rolled into Manchester. An uplifting La La Land-style routine saw the popular pair, who had a pop career after shooting to fame on TV show Byker Grove in the nineties, dancing and singing in the streets to The Osmonds song Having a Party surrounded by dancers, singers and other talented acts.
It set the scene for the action-packed hour-and-a-half to come. But some fans were cringing over the into. @MN456782 remarked: "What a cringe opening." And @ChrisAWykes said: "I'm already cringing."

@RyanTheSoapking asked: "What is this intro?" @DavidMackayy complained: "Can we give this intro the red buzzer pls." And @dddanadine grumbled: "Sorry but this Ant and Dec segment on #BGT is beyond cringe. Who OK'ed this?"
But @nickieohara said: "I don't know why @antanddec seem to be doing more singing these days but I'm loving this @BGT opener! #BGT."
@_Ce_Ce__enjoyed the routine and said: "WOW! The OSMONDS - 'we're having a party.' THAT brings back some (1970s) memories." @matthewrobbo6 declared: "#BGT IS BACK!" And @AntnDec4ever praised: "@antanddec slaying the opening!!!"
