Britain's Got Talent Scouser's surprise gesture sparks Simon Cowell to say 'sorry'

Britain's Got Talent's Simon Cowell was amazed by a scouser's amazing gesture on tonight's show.

Claire Connolly appeared on tonight's edition of the ITV contest. The mum from Liverpool was nervous as she appeared on stage before she revealed she was going to give up her audition so her daughter, Tia, could perform instead.

She said: "She's got me through some very hard times in my life. I feel like I owe her so I'm giving up me audition tonight for my daughter. This is my way of saying she's fabulous"

Simon was confused by the heart-warming as he said: "Sorry, I'm not following this." Tia agreed to the audition and stunned the judges with a powerful rendition of Whitney Houston's I Didn't Know My Own Strength.

Tia explained she channelled the trauma of being bullied into her performance. She said: "I used to get bullied for the colour of my skin and that song helps me. My mum is the strongest person I've ever met so I dedicated it to her as well."

Simon was wowed by Claire's act as he said: "I absolutely loved this audition. I'm guessing without that, she wouldn't have auditioned."
