Britain’s Got Talent star Travis George has revealed that he is on the autistic spectrum. The 22-year-old was talking to Christine Bleakley on ITV’s Lorraine about his BGT performance that aired over the weekend.
“You have your own process when you’re on the autistic spectrum,” Travis, who is one of several Welsh acts to appear this year, revealed. “Mine to get through performances when the anxiety hits you is to create a character in my head. That’s why I love theatre, to immerse yourself and put yourself in someone’s shoes.
“The reason why I think I choked up so much when I was asked that question by Simon [Cowell] is because this is the first time in my life that I felt, ‘Right no characters, no messing about, go on there and be your true authentic self.’ It’s the first time that I’ve ever been the full me when performing. It was so nerve-wracking but it was amazing.”

During his audition Travis wowed the judges and audience with a performance of Stars from Les Miserables. Simon kicked things off and said: "Well, you weren't messing around, were you?"
Bruno Tonioli told Travis: "Talk about going for it! I tell you, you could walk into a West End show tonight. Very very difficult song, better than most people I've heard it sung."
Amanda added: "I've seen Les Mis countless times and you just knocked it out the park, flawless." And Alesha followed: "You are adorable. You are so sweet and don't realise how great you are. I'm really, really happy for you that you had this moment."
Simon concluded: "Travis, it was obviously an amazing audition. Literally, that's what I call selling a song. This is an audition we're going to remember, Travis." The singer subsequently received four yeses and has made it through to the next stage of the competition.
