Britain's Got Talent's Stephen Mulhern responds as fans 'rumble' Witch act's identity

Stephen Mulhern has addressed a fan theory he is behind Britain's Got Talent's Witch costume.

The haunting act has been one of the most memorable performances in the latest season of the popular ITV competition. Simon Cowell, Alesha Dixon, David Walliams and Amanda Holden were spooked as the character took to the stage reciting a creepy chant .

The judges were terrified as the Witch handed them apples and transformed the fruit into maggots and cockroaches. The Witch progressed through to the next round and fans have been trying to guess who is behind the make-up since.

A popular theory being shared on Twitter is that Stephen Mulhern could be the man behind the prosthetics.

David said: "Personally I think it could be an Ant and Dec hoax, but I think the witch is Stephen Mulhern, as he is a magician but not in the show anymore." SharPi added: "its becoming obvious that so many acts are now set up by the producers such a shame. The Witch I am guessing is Stephen Mulhern"

Gary posted: "What if the witch is Stephen Mulhern? Or Ant?" Stephen has taken to his Instagram account and shared a snap with Ant's ex-wife, Lisa Armstrong, to respond to the rumour.

He said: "Everyone keeps asking if I’m the Witch from @bgt! Well you might want to ask @lisaarmstrongmakeup what I look like before she put makeup on me!

Lisa works as a make-up artist - and she took to the comments in hysterics after the update. Other fans flooded the comments to praise Stephen and questioned whether the update meant he was behind the Witch costume.

Jenni said: "You always look great! So was it you?"

Becki posted: "No...it can't be! Can it...? Well, stranger things have happened! Looking great as ever Stephen."

Joanne messaged: "THAT WASN'T A NO!!!"

Amy said: "WAIT SO WAS IT YOU??"
