Britain's Got Talent's Simon Cowell 'ignores' voting backlash to focus on a different TV show

Simon Cowell seemed completely unfazed by the backlash against him from Britain's Got Talent viewers on Tuesday night, instead choosing to post about a completely different TV show online.

After a near two year hiatus, the popular ITV show has made a return to screens this year and, unlike in 2020, when the final took place five months later than normal due to the Covid pandemic, everything has, so far, been going to plan with production. However, this week's second semi final wasn't exactly a hit with some viewers at home.

Following the shock exit of early bookies favourites Born To Perform on Monday, bookies overhauled the Britain's Got Talent winner odds ahead of Tuesday's heat, which saw young comedian Dante Marvin, Voices of the Armed Forces Children Choir, child magician Ryland Petty among those who took to the stage.

Another popular act with viewers, were Amber and the Dancing Collies. Dog acts have a habit of doing rather well on Britain's Got Talent, with Ashleigh and Pudsey and Jules and Matisse both winning. After Amber and the dogs opened the show, many fans at home had them earmarked for a final place.

However, that's not how things turned out as after impressionist Ben Nickless got the most viewer votes, Alesha Dixon's Golden Buzzer act, musical duo Flintz and Taylor got the judges' support over Amber and the collies, with Simon choosing Flintz and Taylor. And the decision didn't sit well with plenty of people watching at home.

One took to Twitter to fume: "So Simon Cowell who has Always gone on about how he would "like a Dog Act to win," suddenly changes his mind for a well less than average singing duo support Ms Dixon." Directly tweeting Simon, a second ranted: "the absolute hours of training that went into those dogs and you chose 2 lads who you will probably sign anyhow. Amber should've won that. That routine was out of this world and even more incredible with 2 dogs. Another dupe mediocre rap act is dull and uninspired."

However , Simon has so far failed to address any of the criticism levelled at him, instead taking to Twitter to promote the new series of America's Got Talent, with a series of posts. The first, made hours after BGT, read: "We had the best time filming #AGT this season. I hope you enjoy the show as much as we did making it."

He followed that up with three more posts about America's Got Talent, with not a single word about what had happened on home soil.
