Britain's Got Talent's Amanda Holden vanishes as The Phantom returns but Simon Cowell condemns act

Britain's Got Talent judge Amanda Holden vanished as creepy magic act The Phantom returned to the show on Thursday night, but Simon Cowell quickly panned the act, branding it 'pointless.'

There was a serious shiver sent through the London Palladium when invisible contestant The Phantom first tried out for the ITV show earlier this year, with Amanda absolutely terrified as she was summoned to the stage and ordered to clutch a balloon, which then popped right in her face. Things got even more creepy when keys that Amanda had picked out of a lost property box, turned out to belong to co-star David Walliams.

Amanda's worst fears came true on Thursday, when The Phantom was back for the Britain's Got Talent semi final and once again ordered her onto the stage, barking at her to hurry up as she made her way from the judges panel to the stage of the Eventim Apollo, as a live audience looked on. Her involvement started with her being told to stand on an X next to a desk, where papers blew in the air.

Things then got more sinister when The Phantom told Amanda to step into something he'd 'been working on,' a machine towards the rear of the stage. Amanda was helped into the lit up box by crew as The Phantom invited her to step into 'his world' of being invisible. Sure enough Amanda was then nowhere to be seen, although she could still be heard as she was asked to move around the stage.

The Phantom then asked David Walliams to come up onto stage and it was when he was standing in front of a mirror that Amanda finally came back into view. She was asked to guess a childhood memory David was thinking of and, while David confirmed she got it right, Simon Cowell shut down the praise for The Phantom, saying he didn't get it.

As David Walliams had a go at Simon and tried to defend The Phantom, many viewers agreed with Simon's stance that it was 'pointless' as The Phantom himself never got David to confirm his memory, as David quipped 'the nurses will be around in a minute!'

One unimpressed viewer tweeted: "The Phantom screwed up there. Didn’t get David to confirm the memory. Also, what the f**k was Amanda Holden’s part needed for," with another reacting: "If that was @AmandaHolden in that mirror then I'm the queen of england..I'm with Simon no idea what the phantom was???"
