Britain's Got Talent fans left defending Stephen Mulhern after act 'disses' him

Britain's Got Talent fans were left defending Stephen Mulhern after a contestant took aim in her lyrics during her act. Honey Scott "dissed" the presenter in her BGT-themed song in her audition, which saw her through to the next stage of the competition.

The 17-year-old from Essex wowed judges with her original song, where she made reference to judges Alesha Dixon, Amanda Holden, and Simon Cowell in the first verse. In her second, she comments on hosts Ant and Dec, saying they've "been jolly good chums forever, must be bored, that's 30 years together." She then took aim at Britain's Got More Talent host Stephen, singing: "Stephen Mulhern: not as good as them two, that's why he's not on ITV too."

The judges loved Honey and her song, with David Walliams even giving the 17-year-old a standing ovation. Simon said: "I think you've got a great personality. The song's really good. People are going to remember you which is important."

Alesha added: "It was very clever, it was such a lovely and sweet idea to do. There's nothing more refreshing then someone standing there with no smoke and mirrors, just with a guitar." Amanda agreed: "It was really cute, I loved that song."

Just like her song asked for, Honey got four yes votes from the judges and is through to the next round. And on Twitter, viewers rushed to defend Stephen. Samia wrote: "How dare she?!?! Don't you dare do Stephen Mulhern wrong like that. He is funnier than the whole lot of them put together!"

Naomi added: "no!!!!! four buzzers for Honey Scott please how DARE she insult Stephen Mulhern this show is nothing without him and bgmt."

Sinaed tweeted: "I’d choose Stephen Mulhern over ant & dec every day of the week."

Britain's Got Talent airs at 8pm every Saturday on ITV1.
