Britain's Got Talent fans complain over 'disturbing' man on fire act as they say 'this has no place on family viewing'

Britain's Got Talent viewers were on the edge of their seats as they settled down to watch a second helping of the new series this weekend. Fans were warned 'do not try this at home' as professional stuntman Thomas Vu solved a Rubik's Cube after being set alight.

Thomas was seen walking around the stage solving the puzzle after being turned into a fireball on ITV talent show. Watched by judges Alesha Dixon, Amanda Holden, Bruno Tonioli and Simon Cowell, he went on to solve the puzzle and the flames were extinguished.

But many viewers watching at home were horrified by the act including former Coronation Street and Happy Valley actress Rachel Leskovac who tweeted: "Setting yourself on fire is NOT entertaining." And @Damerella complained: "This fire act must be quite triggering for some viewers."

A BGT spokesperson said: "Britain’s Got Talent showcases a mix of variety acts to engage audiences. In this case, it was made very clear on screen that this act should not be tried at home and the programme was subject to strict compliance rules."
