Britain's Got Talent fans complain minutes into show over 'time-wasting' Ant and Dec scene

Britain's Got Talent viewers have been left less than impressed after the opening scenes of the brand-new series.

Long-time hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly left audiences divided as the brand-new episode kicked off on Saturday.

The opening scenes saw the Geordie duo perform a song as they danced all over London with some of the hopeful contestants of this year.

However, it didn't go down too well with some of viewers who immediately flocked to Twitter to slam the 'cringe' moment.

"Sorry but this Ant and Dec segment on #BGT is beyond cringe. Who OK'ed this," one viewer complained.

Britain's Got Talent viewers have been left less than impressed after the opening scenes of the brand-new series (ITV)

"What's with the cr**py intro to #BGT? Trying to make it into another of their own shows? I watch this for the acts, not for Ant and Dec," another echoed.

"Do we really need to see another cringey intro from Ant and Dec. Show the acts not them," someone else fumed.

While another BGT viewer took to Twitter to say: "Why is this show always so focused on Ant and Dec!!!! I don't want to see them singing - or pretending to sing for two minutes straight. UGH."

"Ant and Dec! Give it a rest lads," someone else complained.

Viewers called the segment 'cringe' (ITV)

"Fml get on with it. Cut all this introductory stuff. Please. It’s just time-wasting," another fumed.

However, other avid fans of the ITV competition couldn't get enough of the funny Geordie duo.

"So good to see @BGT back on our screens!! I wonder who’s gonna get the golden buzzers this year. Ant and Dec just make this sooooo much better," one fan of the ITV show gushed.

"Just when I couldn't love Ant and Dec anymore," another echoed.

While another BGT fan swooned: "Wow Ant and Dec are so convincing!! Literally thought it was them singing."

Britain's Got Talent viewers welcomed new judge Bruno Tonioli to the panel after he is taking over David Walliams.

David shocked Britain’s Got Talent fans in November 2022 when he announced he was set to leave the long-running show.

The comedian-turned-children's author joined the judging panel in 2012 alongside Simon Cowell, 63, Amanda Holden, 52, and Alesha Dixon 44.

However, he quit the show last year as he reportedly felt it was “time to move on and focus on his other projects”.

His exit came after he was forced to apologise after audio of him making vile comments towards BGT contestants was leaked.

The disrespectful conversations were made during filming at the London Palladium in 2020.

David apologised for making the "disrespectful comments" during filming breaks.

In a statement he said: “I would like to apologise to the people I made disrespectful comments about during breaks in filming for Britain’s Got Talent in 2020.

“These were private conversations and – like most conversations with friends – were never intended to be shared. Nevertheless, I am sorry.”

After stepping down, Bruno has now taken over from David.
