Comedian Markus Birdman impressed the judges and gained four yeses as he delivered an unflinching audition on Britain's Got Talent. But as Amanda Holden said she was 'howling' with laughter at his jokes, others were not impressed.
Some viewers complained as Markus, 52, regaled the audience on the ITV talent show with his thoughts on being a parent. "Kids are the biggest source of joy you will ever have. Trouble is, they tend to ruin every other source of joy you ever had," he said.
And he continued: "I hear other parents say stuff like 'I'd take a bullet for my child.' Would you? I'd take a bullet for my child. Put it in the garden and shoot her."

Markus then moved on to being a two-time stroke survivor. "A couple of years ago I had a stroke, that's what happened. "People don't always believe me. I perhaps don't look like a stroke survivor to you, but what you fail to appreciate is I'm actually 23," he quipped.
Markus explained that he's done a lot of work with the Stroke Association, and joked: "You would think as a two time stroke survivor as I am, you ought to be able to make jokes about surviving strokes to other stroke survivors. Nope.
"At one point someone stood up and went 'stroke victims have feelings too mate' and I went 'I know but only down half the side of their bodies.'"
@lydylyd tweeted angrily: "Joking about shooting kids?? Not funny." They added: "It’s very erm distasteful." And they tweeted: "Repeat after me joking about shooting kids is not comedy!" @KAT3MIDDLET0N shouted: "YES ARE U JOKING, joking about shooting kids B**** NO." And @CathwilWilson asked: "Did he joke about shooting his daughter and the judges all laughed?!"
@CavoloChe asked: "Jokes about shooting his kid and stroke victims...really? #BGT." @zacsmidnights said: "That wasn’t funny to me at all tbh #BGT." And @PaulM8614883932 fumed: "#bgt think it’s funny to have a comedian taking the p*** out of STROKE victims? F*** YOU NEVER WATCH YOU AGAIN."
@Dancing50216871 wrote: "Jokes about ‘strokes’ are NOT funny my dad had one and was paralysed down his right side and was confined to a wheelchair you should be ashamed."
But others loved his comedy routine. Judge Alesha Dixon told him: "The kids thing I am with you my friend." And Amanda said: "Everything you said tonight on stage I howled at. I'm glad I'm wearing my big knickers."
Viewer @SG902110 said: "Simon eye rolling that comedian when he first came on turns out he’s SO GOOD." @SeanieQuigley27 praised: "Well done Markus you were hilarious!" And @jake2k888 commented: "Hahaha so funny havnt laughed that hard in ages."
